Debra Jane “Deb” Nulk, age 68, of Galion, passed away in her home from a sudden illness on Monday, June 10, 2024.
She was born on Friday the 13th of January 1956, in Mt. Gilead, Ohio, the daughter of William O. “Bill” Taylor and Martha Jane (Bird) Taylor. In her younger years, she enjoyed barrel racing horses with her sisters. She was the homecoming queen of the class of 1974 at Highland High School. A hard worker, Deb handled shipping and receiving for several telephone businesses, including North Electric, Global-Tron, and Opti-Com.
Deb loved to bowl, and it was through this pastime that she met her husband, Michael Nulk. The pair hit it off and were married on April 10, 1982. They enjoyed playful banter, underpinned by a deep foundation of love. Deb was an excellent cook, known for her famous cheesy potatoes, Christmas ham, green bean casserole, and corn bake. She loved to feed people and exuded hospitality. An avid black coffee drinker, she even took a sip before going to bed!
Deb’s world was her family. She loved being “Grandma Honey” and “Mawmaw Deb” to her grandchildren and would drop anything to attend their events and be there for them. She was a huge fan of OSU, the Indians, and the Browns. Above all, she was caring of others while not afraid to stand up for herself—a rare and winning combination. She will be deeply missed.
Deb is survived by her loving spouse of 42 years, Mike Nulk of Galion; son, Travis Huddlestun (Lisa Johnson) of Delaware; daughter, Carrie Buck of Fredericktown; son and daughter-in-law, Kyle and Megan Nulk of Galion; grandchildren, Deven, Ollie, Brendan, Wesley, and Makayla; great-granddaughter, Paige; dear sisters, Cindy Adkins of Chesterville, Tammy Oakes of Nashville, TN, and Tracey Parks (Gerald Parks) of Cardington; mother-in-law, Annette McClish Nulk of Galion; siblings-in-law, Jerry Nulk (Jane Nulk) and Shirley Porter, all of Galion; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Glenn Buck; sister, Teresa Taylor; father-in-law, Jack Nulk; and brothers-in-law, Jonah Adkins and Jim Oakes.
The family will receive friends this Friday the 14th of June 2024 from 1:00 to 2:45 p.m. at Snyder Funeral Homes, Richardson Davis Chapel, 218 South Market Street, Galion, Ohio 44833, with a short memorial service at 2:45 p.m led by Deb’s grandson Brendan Damron.
