David L. Chandler, age 84, of Galion passed away Monday September 23, 2024 in Galion.

Born November 28, 1939 in Findlay, he was the son of the late Robert and LaVelva (Niece) Chandler. He married Sharon Pierce on November 24, 1962 and she survives.

David was retired from Galion City Schools where he served for 40 years both as Renschville Principal and for several years as head of buildings and grounds. He brought many programs into the school system including the first latch key program and after school skating as well as the first handicapped class. He was very civic minded and spent many years on the Galion Hospital board and the Fairway/Waycraft board and helped develop what was known as Hessanuer Estates. He was a past President of the Cushman Club of America and enjoyed working as an entrepreneur and hobby farmer.

In addition to his wife Sharon, he is survived by his sons: David (Lynne) Chandler, Paige (Lisa) Chandler and Eric Chandler, eight grandchildren: Katelyn (Zach) Nash, Megan (Matt) Bruni, Abigail (Trever) Chapman, Mason Chandler, Bethany Chandler, Bart Chandler, Victoria (Connor) Campbell and Eleanor Chandler, two great grandchildren Parker and Emma Nash, brother Dennis (Judy) Chandler, sister-in-law Margery Miller and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM Saturday October 5, 2024 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833 where services will follow at Noon with Rev Dreama and Lloyd Caudill officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
