David F. Karle, 81, of Galion, reunited with his loving wife, Maxine, when he peacefully passed Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at Signature Healthcare, Galion.
David was born in Galion, Ohio on December 21, 1936 to the late Frank and Norma (Durtsche) Karle. He married Maxine E. (Ott) Karle on February 15, 1959 and she preceded him in death December 22, 2017. They met at Kelley’s Island and had been married for 58 years when Maxine passed away. Maxine was the love of David’s life and he would do anything for her and he was very lost once Maxine passed on.
Living in Galion his whole life, he was a graduate of the Galion High School. He was employed as a Professional Photographer since 1966 and was a Co-Owner of Photorama, retiring in 2006. Previously David was a teacher where he taught many children Industrial Arts at the Ontario and Mt. Gilead Local Schools. He was an Amateur Ham Radio Operator with his call code of WB8AUK. He loved to go riding on his motorcycle on nice days. David was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Galion. David loved flying his model airplanes as well as working and tinkering around his home. He enjoyed teaching all his grandchildren the tricks of his trade. He was a supporter of the NRA and loved shooting his guns as well as teaching his family the proper way to handle them. Over his lifetime, David has loved and enjoyed the companionship of his many dogs and especially his last dog “Cheyenne” who survives him.
He is survived by his children, Cheri and Richard Seckel of Galion, Lauri and Mitch Schifer of Galion; five grandchildren, Eric Seckel, Brian and Jenna Seckel, Jamie and Joshua Atkinson, Joseph Andrews, Tyler Harris; six great-grandchildren, Tyson, Kylah, Carter, Blaine, Lindsey, and Alexis.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life of 58 years, Maxine Karle.
Friends may call Monday, June 25, 2018 from 11:00am to 1:00pm at the Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 303 Portland Way North, Galion. Funeral services will follow on Monday, June 25, 2018 on 1:00pm at Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, Galion, with Minister Tim Nowlin officiating. Burial will follow in Caledonia Cemetery, Caledonia.
