Darrel E. Monk, age 74, passed away July 9, 2021, at Riverside Hospital. Darrel was born to the late James E. and Edith (Sharp) Monk on May 17, 1947, in Bucyrus Ohio. Darrel married on May 28, 1966, to Meredith “Susie” (Cotsmire) Monk. Darrel is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Angela S. Monk-Eidson, siblings, Marietta, Martha, Clarence “Ace”, Dwight, Chet, Pam, and John.
Darrel is survived by wife of 55 years, Susie Monk; daughter, Kimberly (Craig) Ferguson; grandchildren, Sean (Lindsay Dasher) Ferguson and Tia (Phillip) Rupe; sisters, Mildred (Dave) McClintock and Bertha (Wilbur) Hosler; as well as 5 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Darrel retired from the Crawford County Courthouse from the maintenance department. He was an Assistant Treasurer of the Silver King Tractor Club of Yesteryear “SKY” and a current member of the Moose. Darrel enjoyed spending time outside whether it was gardening, camping, traveling, or just fishing. He was an avid car buff, loved seeing the old designs, and visiting many different car shows. He loved spending time with his family.
Darrel was also very handy and would take on most of his own home renovations. He was also a very helpful person, any time someone would need something done he was first in line to assist them. He was the neighborhood “Mr. Fix-it” whether it was helping kids with their bikes or teenagers with their cars, he was always available to help and never knew a stranger.
Visiting hours are Wednesday, July 14, from 1 PM-3 PM and 5 PM-7 PM. Services will be Thursday at 1 PM. Memorials may be made to the Wildlife Haven. Moments of remembrance may be left online at munzpirnstill.com
