Heaven gained another angel when Cynthia Mae (Coffelt) Carriger “Scootie” went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, April 8, 2022. She was 88 years old.
She was born September 23, 1933 in Cloudy, Oklahoma and was the daughter of Otis and Susie D. (Conaway) Coffelt. Cindy graduated from Rattan high school in Oklahoma in 1951. She married the love of her life, Eargle “Tex” Carriger on March 31, 1953 and he preceded her after nearly 55 years of marriage on March 12, 2008.
Cindy worked as a seamstress at Elbeco for over 30 years before enjoying retirement. She had a passion for sewing and crocheting. Cindy made sure each new grandchild and great-grandchild had a quilt lovingly made by her. She loved her sweet tea and always had a fresh pitcher prepared to share with all who walked through her door. If you were lucky, you got to pair it with her delicious homemade cornbread. Cindy cherished time spent with her family just as they cherished every moment with her. However, nobody could light up her face as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Flowers were a staple for Cindy as she always had indoor plants and religiously doted on her flower and vegetable gardens every year. She had a heart full of love and never met a stray cat she didn’t want to care for. Cindy had a knack for engaging the room while telling animated stories of her life.
Cynthia is survived by her children, Paula (Joe) Lott of Oklahoma, Joe Carriger of Galion, Ivy Carriger of Texas and Steve (Cindy) Carriger of Texas; brother, Delmer (Joyce) Coffelt of Oklahoma, 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Doll; two brothers, Bud and Benny Joe and two sons, Russell “Razz” Carriger and Charlie Carriger.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 13 in Iberia Cemetery.
