Clarabelle (Jean) Melcher Seiter, Belmont Tower, Brethren Care Village, Ashland, Ohio peacefully passed away on January 23, 2022.
Born January 2, 1930 in Morrow County where she lived for nearly 70 years before moving to Ashland with her husband, Donald Seiter of 67 years who passed away May 20, 2018. They were married December 2, 1950 by Rev. Herbert Burkhart (Don’s Uncle) in their nearly built home. Her parents were John and Pauline (Koons) Melcher.
Mrs. Seiter was a graduate of Johnsville High School in the class of 1947. After graduation she was employed at Tappan Stove Company. In 1950 Jean was employed as a school secretary serving 30 years at Iberia, Northmor and Galion City Schools. Also employed at Iberia Earthmoving for 5 years. After moving to Ashland in 1997 she worked at Brethren Care Village for 8 years.
Jean was an active member of Iberia Tots and Toddlers Mothers League for sixty plus years. As a member of Ohio Child Conversation League, Jean served as District President for two years and two years as State President. She had filled many State offices.
For ten years the couple catered many family dinners, wedding receptions and alumni banquets.
Jean is survived by two sons and their wives. Jerry and Sue Seiter of Ashland, Ohio and Lyle and Beth Seiter of Big Prairie, Ohio. Grandchildren are Joshua and Misti Berry (Olivia, Benley and Atwood), John and Jenel Bentley (Avery and Emily), Jacob and Brittany Smith, Kurt and Tiffany Roberts (Adalynn and Luciana), Ashton Gill (Maycee and Hutch) and two great granddaughters, Megan and Katie. One sister, Diane Porter and brother, Vincent Melcher.
She was preceded in death by husband, Donald E Seiter, grandson Benjamin Seiter, sister Mary Kay Bosh, Gerald Bosh, Janet Melcher and Terry Porter.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 28, 2022 at Iberia Cemetery, 3712 Cemetery Rd., Galion, OH 44833 at 11:30 AM with Chaplain Dean Pierce officiating.
A Celebration of Life will be planned at a later date.
