Charlie Elbert Whited, 80, of Galion, passed away at his home on Wednesday, June 12, 2024. Charlie was born in Sword Creek, Virginia, on October 25, 1943, to the late Virgil and Effie (Taylor) Whited.

Charlie was a River Valley High School graduate, class of 1961. Shortly after graduating, he married Judy Holzwarth on November 9, 1963, and they spent a wonderful 57 years of marriage together before her passing on March 6, 2021.

Charlie, a dedicated worker, put in his time at HPM in Mt. Gilead, Iberia Machine Shop, and even owned and operated Roto-Rooter franchise. His hard work and commitment shone through during his 38 years at HPM, 25 years at Iberia Machine Shop, and 18 years with his own business.

Charlie was a man who found joy in life’s simple pleasures. Whether he was out boating, fishing, or camping, he cherished those moments spent in nature. His love for cornbread without sugar and beans was well-known, and his family found delight in sharing those meals with him.

A proud member of the community, Charlie was a familiar face at Grace Point Church, where he found solace in his faith and fellowship. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, dedication, and a love for life that will be remembered by all who knew him.

Left to cherish Charlie’s memory are his sons; Randy (Cindy) Whited of Castalia, Rodney (Kris) Whited of Marblehead, and Dustin (Regina) Whited of Galion; his grandchildren; Jacob, Megan, Noah, Gavin, Audreana, Aden, and Addison; great-grandson, Nash, and his three sisters.

In addition to his parents and wife, Charlie was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

Memorial contributions may be made to Avita Home Health and Hospice.

A private family burial at Iberia Cemetery where Charlie will be laid to rest with his wife, Judy.
