Charley A. “The Great One” Baldwin, 68, of Columbus and recently of Galion passed away unexpectedly Friday, January 10, 2020 at Signature HealthCARE of Galion.

He was born April 13, 1951 in Belfry, Kentucky and was the son of Herman and Augusta (Rice) Baldwin. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Glenda (Alkire) Baldwin, whom he married on September 13, 1986.

Charley graduated from Belfry High School in 1971 and moved to the Columbus area. He received his certificate from Columbus State to work as an electrician. Charley worked and was an active union member at Techneglas in Columbus, retiring in 2003.

He was very active and an advocate for the visually impaired. Charley helped organize and coach Beep-ball. He also donated blood many times thru the American Red Cross. Charley was an avid Kentucky Wildcat fan, enjoyed family vacations to Florida and often traveling to Las Vegas with Glenda.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons Charley W. Baldwin of Columbus and Jonathan (Alexandria) Baldwin of Galion; daughter Crystal (Stephen) Planck of Galion; six grandchildren Mckenzie, Charley, Mayva, Elizabeth, Aleaha and Sofia and two brothers John (Sallie) Baldwin of Arizona and Fred (Donna) Baldwin of West Virginia.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters, Josey, Lula, Lola, Eleanor and Caroline and six brothers James, Henry, Thomas, Eugene, Chester and Herbert.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 16, 2020 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833 where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 17 with Rev. Joe Stafford officiating. A graveside service will follow on Friday at 2:00 p.m. in Fernwood Cemetery, Lockbourne, Ohio.
