Charles ”Jack” M. Ganshorn, 91, of Galion, passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at Magnolia Terrace, Galion.
Jack was born in Ashland on July 17, 1926 to the late Richard and Carrie Belle (Johnson) Ganshorn. He married Mary Ellen Davis on September 10, 1950 and she survives him.
Jack graduated from Galion High School in 1945 and was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church, Galion. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. Jack was a tool and die maker at North Electric for 21 years and Westinghouse for 18 years. Jack enjoyed farming and had his own farm in Blooming Grove. Jack loved the outdoors and working in his yard.
In addition to his wife, Mary Ellen, he is survived by his nephews; Steve and Linda McElhatten, Tom and Diane McElhatten, Dan and Sandra McElhatten, Jerry and Jeanna McElhatten, David and Angie McElhatten, and Jay McElhatten, his nieces; Susan McElhatten, and Linda and Rick Thornton, his brother; Raymond G. Ganshorn, FL, and special friends; Bob and Carol Hickle.
He was preceded in death by his niece; Patty McElhatten, his brothers; Donald Ganshorn and Norman Ganshorn, his sister; Ruth Venable, and two half-sisters; Dorothy Liston, and Madeline “Peg” McKean.
Friends may call Friday, November 3, 2017 from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 303 Portland Way North, Galion. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 PM on Friday, November 3, 2017 at Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, Galion, with Pastor Richard Genzman officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Galion. Full military honors will be given at the graveside by the U.S. Army and the Crestline/Galion veterans organizations.
