Charles “Charlie” Staats, 78, of Galion passed away Monday, May 15, 2023 at Ohio Health Marion Hospital.

Born September 19, 1944 in Murraysville, W. Va., West Virginia, he was the son of Orville Staats and Myrta McGrew.

He served his country in the United States Navy and was a life member of the Bucyrus V.F.W.  He loved playing with his granddaughter and working on cars with his grandson.

He is survived by his longtime companion, Pamela McGowan with whom he made his home with and two stepchildren, Heather (Jack) Goodyear and Jake (Amber) McGowan; eight grandchildren, Austin (Mercedes), Kevin, Zoey, Olyvia, Madison, Grace, Shelby and Matt; two great grandchildren, Aubree and Bentley; numerous brothers and sisters including, Ronald (Linda) Rainer, Roger Rainer and Randy (Tammi) Rainer, Judy (Rick) Baker and Karen (Kenny) Campbell;  sister-in-law, Sandra Staats; uncle, Vic McGrew and daughter-in-law, Sherry Staats

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Staats and a brother, Thomas Staats.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833 where services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, 2023 with Rev. Joe Stafford officiating.
