Carl E. “Gene” Albert, 88, of Galion and formerly of LaRue passed away Saturday, June 16, 2018 at the Ohio State Medical Center, Columbus.

He was born on August 10, 1929 in Kenton and was the son of Philip C. and Margaret (Gunn) Albert. Gene married Juanita Miller and they had seven children.

He is survived by his children, Rita (Lloyd) Sayre, Philip (Charlotte) Albert, David (Pam) Albert, Susan (Jim) Alig all of Marion and Tom (Joy) Albert of Waldo; former wife Juanita Fields of Marion; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and one expected in July; three great great-granddaughters (five generations); brothers Joseph Albert of Michigan, Harold and Andrew Albert of Kenton; step-brother Robert Hosack of Kenton and a step-sister Gaylo Howard of Indiana.

Gene graduated from LaRue High School and proudly served his country in the United States Army. He worked at the Marion Depot, B.F. Goodrich and retired from the Erie/CSX Railroad.

He is preceded in death by his parents; daughters Carla Strahm and Martha Albert; step-father Claude Hosack; sisters Aagnes Albert, Demarel Sparks; step-sister Louella Clay; brother Philip “Scrappy” Albert and a step-brother Charles Hosack.

The family is honoring his wishes to be cremated and have no formal service.
