Carl E. Cooperider, 72 of Bucyrus passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2020, at home following a brief illness.  Carl was born May 8, 1948, in Bucyrus to the late George K. and Betty (Dingee) Cooperider.  He was married on August 5, 2002, to Linda (Gibson) Cooperider who survives. Carl is also survived by children Barry (Kim) Cooperider of Bucyrus, Jennifer Cooperider of Bucyrus; Aubray Gibson of Dublin, and Brenton (Brittany) Potter of Bucyrus; grandchildren Braya, Bristol, a grandson expected in May, and Amber, 2 great-grandchildren; sisters Luanne (Jim) Miller of N. Robinson and Sharon Sanders of New Washington; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Carl was an engineer for Norfolk and Southern R.R. retiring in 2008 after 36 years.  Carl built many, many cars and enjoyed all things classic cars related. He loved his cross country motorcycle rides and road trips with friends where he traveled much of the country. He took various vacations with his wife and among their favorites were cruises, visiting Arizona and the Grand Canyon, and a trip to the Outer Banks. Time with family was special to Carl and he always looked forward to visits with his granddaughter, Braya. Carl led a full life with many interests and experiences. In the past, he spent many days fishing and boating Ohio’s lakes, was SCUBA certified when he made several trips to the Caribbean, loved being entertained by his cats (especially Gordy), and Carl could be found forever tinkering around the house and garage. Carl was a member of the Eliminators Car Club of Bucyrus where he organized the Ronald McDonalds Car Show raising many thousands of dollars to donate, and the Rod Knockers Car Club of Marion. He was always looking forward to being with friends whether it was going out to breakfast, cruise nights, swap meets, or just socializing. Amongst those who knew him best, he will always be remembered for his extensive knowledge of car history, fabrication, and story-telling.

The family will receive friends at the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home on Sunday, December 20th from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm.  Everyone is invited to be with the family from 3:00 until 6:00 pm at the Elks Lodge. The family requests that donations be made to the Ronald McDonald House Charities or Homeless to Home Cat Shelter in Marion, Ohio.  Expressions of sympathy can be left at www.munzpirnstill.com
