Brian J. Moneysmith, 68, of Galion, died Friday, November 9, 2018 at Magnolia Terrace, Galion, after a lengthy illness.

Brian was born in Kenton on April 12, 1950 to the late James and Dorothy (Heitzman) Moneysmith.  He married Patricia Ann (Ransom) Moneysmith on October 29, 1999 and she preceded him in death on January 29, 2016.

Brian was a proud graduate of the Galion Senior High School, Class of 1968 where he played football for the Tigers. Brian worked and retired from the Maintenance Department at Peco Corporation of Galion. Although, when he started working there, it was known as North Electric – ITT, where he Managed the Prototype Department. After retiring, he worked at Schieber’s of Galion and Parker’s Driving Range. While living in Little River, South Carolina, he enjoyed working as a carpenter. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #303 Galion for 34 years.  He was an Ohio State University fan, enjoyed golfing and loved to play the banjo. Together, Brian and his son, Clint built a 1923 T-Bucket Roadster. Brian also built a stock car that he raced at Mansfield Speedway.

He is survived by his daughter, Stacey and Larry Utt of Fairborn; his son, Clint and Carrie Moneysmith of Galion; two grandchildren, Zachary Moneysmith and Camille Moneysmith; his brothers, Brent and Sabrina Moneysmith of Mansfield and Barry and Cathy Moneysmith of Galion; aunts, Janet Ruth of Jonesborough, Tennessee, Mary Ann Heitzman, and Nancy and Jim Reid, all of Galion; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his uncles, John Heitzman and Robert Ruth.

Friends may call Wednesday, November 14, 2018 from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM at the Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 303 Portland Way N., Galion.  Funeral services follow at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 14 the funeral home with Rev. Greg Kirk officiating.
