Bonny Jean Wetzel, 80, of Crestline, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on October 15, 2024, at Magnolia Terrance Nursing Home in Galion. She was born in Shelby on January 22, 1944, to the late Cecil McClurg and Francis (Heuberger) Cooper and married James Wetzel on November 23, 1992, and he preceded her in death.
A graduate of Shelby High School, Class of 1962, Bonny led a vibrant life filled with simple pleasures. She enjoyed taking bus trips to casinos, trying her luck on slot machines, and challenging her mind with crossword puzzles. Bonny cherished spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, forming lasting memories in their company. Known for her love of shopping, Bonny was a self-proclaimed shopaholic, always on the lookout for the best deals and latest fashion trends. She took great pride in her appearance, ensuring that her makeup was always flawless.
Left to cherish her memory is her stepdaughter, Zondra Adkins of Mansfield, four grandchildren: Jayce (Cassie) Aslakson, Emily (Jeremy) Andrews, Mackenzie (Noah) Hall, Travis Adkins, seven great-grandchildren, and her two sisters, Nancy Henry of Georgia, and Judy Chandler of Washington.
In addition to her spouse and parents, Bonny was preceded in death by her daughter, Monica Palmer and her brother, Roger McClurg.
In celebration of Bonny’s life, a private graveside service will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery, Crestline.
