Beverly (Finical) Sand

She was born Beverly Ann Arthur on July 20, 1929, in Marion, Ohio, and became Beverly Ann Finical after being adopted by Kenneth and Grace Moore Finical.

Raised in Galion, Mrs. Sand graduated from Galion High School in 1947.  After graduation, she worked at the Western Southern Life Insurance Company until her marriage to Glen Eugene Sand of Bucyrus, Ohio on November 28, 1948.  Moving to Bucyrus, Ohio at the time of her marriage, she worked as a secretary for the Friendly Novelty Company and The Ryder Brass Foundry.  She moved to Marion in 1953, leaving in 2019 to live in Pennsylvania with her daughter, Andra, and son-in-law, John, until her death on June 20, 2024.

Beverly had a gift of making everything special, taking great pride in everything she touched.  From simple daily tasks of making the bed, cooking and baking for family and friends, or wrapping a present, to gardening, making clothes and costumes for her daughters, and knitting and crafting – she was thoughtful and paid attention to the details; it was important to her.  She was scrupulous.  An avid reader and puzzler, she also knew and loved words. We have learned from her to be kind and generous to others, laugh freely, cherish time with friends and family, and to do the right thing.  She loved and cared deeply for others, and in return was loved and cared for deeply.

She is survived by her two daughters, Linda (Scott) Nightingale of Sylvania Ohio, and Andra (John) Bell of Center Valley, Pennsylvania.  She was preceded in death by her Father, Kenneth Finical, Stepmother Maxine, son, Randall Eugene, and her husband of 66 years, Glen Eugene Sand. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Adam (Cara) Nightingale of Toledo, Ohio, John (Nicole) Nightingale of Pickerington, Ohio, Philip (Anne) Nightingale of New Albany, Ohio, Lisa (Jimmy) Leale of Spokane Valley, Washington.  Also surviving are ten great-grandchildren, Jason, Evan, Molly, Joseph, Vincent, Margaret, Carson, Ethan, Jacob, and Everly.

Friends may call on Saturday, June 29th from 11-1 pm at Mark A. Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 303 Portland Way N, Galion.  A memorial service will be held immediately following at 1 pm. Burial will follow, taking place in Fairview Cemetery, Galion.
