Betty A. Rafferty, 96, of Galion passed away Sunday, October 29, 2017 at Galion Community Hospital.
Born July 26, 1921 in Fremont, she was the daughter of George and Alta (King) Longanbach. She married Eldon O. Rafferty on April 20, 1947 and he preceded her on April 19, 1997.
She was a graduate of Fremont Ross High School in 1939 and a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Galion. Prior to her marriage Betty worked at the Howard Zink Corporation in Fremont, later at the American Lutheran Church offices in Columbus and then was a secretary at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Toledo. After her marriage to Eldon they worked together on their dairy farm.
She is survived by daughter Betty (Joe) Manley of Galion; daughter-in-law Darlene (Dan) Foos of Richwood; grandchildren Dorene (George) Stirm, Jerusha (Rick) Walker, Levi (Elizabeth) Rafferty and Ayesha (Jeff) Fraizer and great-grandchildren CJ Stirm, Gracie Stirm, Kennan Walker, Brant Walker, Phoebe Rafferty, Jake Rafferty, Ben Rafferty, Daniel Fraizer, Lillian Fraizer and Andrew Fraizer.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by son Eldon Rafferty, Jr., infant son Paul Rafferty and sister Georgia Maye Nitschke.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833. Additional calling will be held Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. until services which will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at Peace Lutheran Church, 129 West Walnut Street, Galion, Ohio 44833 with Rev. Richard Genzman officiating. Burial will follow at Iberia Cemetery.
