Betty J. Ashwell, 95, of Bucyrus and formerly of Galion passed away Tuesday evening, August 18, 2020 at Carlisle Place in Bucyrus.
She was born July 7, 1925 in Galion and was the daughter of Hiram Isaac and Mary DeVere (Leonard) Poland. Betty married Robert H. Ashwell in 1945 and he preceded her in death in 2005.
Betty graduated from Galion High School and was a homemaker.
Betty is survived by son, Steve Ashwell of Galion; granddaughter, Theresa King of Galion; two great-grandchildren, Ashley Nicole King and Traskie Lin King; two great great-grandchildren, Brantley and Axel Smith; four sisters, Sandy Britt of Bucyrus, Mary “Took” Rarick,of Bucyrus, Miriam K. “Kaye” (Ronald) Scott of Bucyrus and Karen S. Knapp of Galion and two brothers, John (Virginia) Poland of Bucyrus and Dale (Joyce) Poland of Indiana.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by three brothers, Willard, Mart and Herbert Poland; two sisters, Shirley Brown and Barbara Harvey and a daughter-in-law, Alice W. Ashwell
The family will hold a graveside service at Crawford County Memory Gardens, Crestline, Ohio at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to Kindred Hospice or Carlisle Place Activities Fund in care of the funeral home.
