Ben Drake, 91, of Galion passed away Thursday, July 29, 2021, at Avita Galion Hospital.
Born December 28, 1929, in Gassaway, West Virginia, he was the son of John E. and Anna J. (McElwain) Drake. He married A. Jeanette (Hale) Drake on April 8, 1951, and she preceded him on February 12, 2017.
He was a graduate of Gassaway High School in Gassaway, West Virginia, and served in the West Virginia Army National Guard. He retired from Carter Machine where he worked in maintenance for ten years and prior to that he worked for HPM in Mt. Gilead.
He is survived by sons, Michael Wesley (Eileen) Drake of Mansfield and John Randall “Randy” Drake of Galion; granddaughters, Jennifer (David Simpson) Dovenbarger of Canton and Sarah (Russell) Neumann of Mansfield; seven great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; sister, Gladys (Ray) Clark of Galion and sister-in-law, Nell Drake of Monroe, New York.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Josephine Rose, and brothers, Gordon Lee and Paul Drake.
At Ben’s request, no services will be held.
