Barry J. Byerly, age 73 of Crestline, passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. On May 20, 1951, he was born in Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, to the late Harry “Burton” and Norma (Edwards) Byerly, and on August 15, 1970, he married his beloved wife, Trudy (Miller).
Barry’s lifelong career was as a journeyman meatcutter, a profession he took great pride in, and he most recently utilized his skills at the Meijer in Ontario. He was also a Life Member of the Masonic Lodge in Galion and held the honored distinction of 32nd Degree Mason. Besides his career and Freemason membership, Barry was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with friends and family in Ohio and Pennsylvania, and he also had fond memories of hunting bear in Maine.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his children Christopher (Christa) Byerly and Tylana (Garret) Miller; his grandchildren Kaycee (Jeff) Booher, Levi Miller, Sequoia Hein Byerly, and Melody Hein Byerly; his great-grandchildren Calliope and Edward Booher; and his longtime friend Deborah Hall.
He was preceded in death by his parents Burton and Norma, his brothers Garry and Larry, and his wife Trudy.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, October 14, 2024, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 223 W. Main St., Crestline. Services will take place on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Crawford County Memory Gardens.
