Barbara A. Tyrrell, 91, of Galion passed away surrounded by her family, Thursday, December 5, 2019 at her home.
She was born October 22, 1928 in Mobile, Alabama and was the daughter of Barrie B. and Josephine (Guber) McFayden. On September 4, 1948 she married Richard A. “Dick” Tyrrell and they enjoyed 51 years of marriage until his passing on July 26, 1999.
She worked five years in the office at the former Stratbury Manufacturing in Galion. After working there, Barbara worked in the printing department at the former Galion Manufacturing for 27 years, retiring in 1991. She enjoyed her family and a wealth of friends. Barb liked to fish, play cards and travel, having been in all states except Hawaii. She always kept up corresponding with her friends and enjoyed taking long walks, enjoying God’s beauty.
Barbara is survived by her children, William “Bill” Tyrrell of Galion, Barbara (Richard) Nye of Arcadia, Ohio, Timothy (Anna) Tyrrell of Mahtomedi, Minnesota, Kathleen (Vern) Sizemore of Marion and Mary Susan (Michael) Alerding of South Bend, Indiana; 14 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; one great great-grandson; daughter-in-law, Susan Tyrrell of Galion and a close caregiver, Connie Tennis.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son Michael Tyrrell; sister Betty Jane McFayden and a great-granddaughter.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow the visitation at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 135 North Liberty Street Galion, Ohio, with Father Paul Fahrbach, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Galion.
