Barbara J. Hoppe, 81, of Galion passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at Millcreek Nursing in Galion.
She was born December 31, 1941 in Galion and was the daughter of Eugene “Bud” Shumaker and Marie (McManis) Shumaker Keyes. Barbara married Karl “Roger” Hoppe on January 31, 1960 and he preceded her in death June 23, 2006.
She enjoyed monthly class luncheons with her Galion High School class of 1960. Barb and her husband used to refinish furniture, raised exotic chickens, took their kids to all of their 4H events and enjoyed going to old car shows.
She is survived by two children, Jonae (Frank) Wilson of Austin, Texas and Mark Hoppe of California; grandsons, Garrett (Laura) Wilson, Kyle (Devina) Hoppe, Kaleb Hoppe and Jakoby Hoppe; great-grandchildren, Norah Wilson, Holden Hoppe, Landen Hoppe and Jackson Hoppe; sister Beverly White of Early, Texas; sister-in-law, Vivian Shumaker of Galion; four aunts, Betty Newcomer, JoAnn (Clyde) Robinson, Sharon Cramer and Doris McManis; nephew, Allen Shumaker; nieces, Vicki Ruhl and Kelly West and cousins, Kay (Dick) Stowe and Linda Keller; friends, Warren (Kristie) Davis and Dana Lehman.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a brother, Bob Shumaker.
A graveside service and Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
