Amy May Heitzman, 58, of Galion, entered into heaven on December 10, 2024, after an extended illness. She was surrounded by the love, tears, and laughter of so many loved ones.
Amy was born on May 30, 1966, in Galion, to parents, John and MaryAnn (Vaughan) Heitzman. She had the unique blessing of working beside her father for 20 years and later, another 20 years with her mother.
Amy was a vibrant master at every craft that ever piqued her interest. She baked and decorated cakes beautifully, made intricate greeting cards, and even taught and shared these skills with many people. Amy was a collector of Americana décor, Longaberger baskets, and housewares.
She is survived by her boyfriend and rock, Dr. Gene Schaaf, her mother MaryAnn Heitzman, sister Tee (John) Carter, nieces; Valerie, and Colleen (Logan) and Myra, Amy (Jordan) Ruby, and Annie, brothers; Bill (Susan) Heitzman, Fred (Auttie) Heitzman, and countless other family and friends.
Amy is preceded in death by her father John Heitzman.
Friends may call on Sunday, December 15, 2024, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Mark A. Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 303 Portland Way N, Galion. Also, on Monday, December 16, 2024, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, services will follow with Pastor Mark Boedeker officiating. A private burial will take place at a later date.
