Almira R. Morton, 86, of Galion, Ohio passed away Saturday, June 18, 2022 at Inspirations of Florence Senior Living in Florence, Kentucky from complications of Alzheimer’s disease.
She was born July 19, 1935 in Cleveland, Ohio and was the daughter of Leonard and Eliza (Allford) Payne. Almira married Eugene L. Morton on December 23, 1978 and he preceded her in death after 27 years of marriage on July 26, 2006.
Almira worked at the former PECO II in Galion as an assembler and prior to that, she worked at the former ITT North Electric, Galion Community Hospital, Shelby Tubing and United Church Directories. She attended the Real Life Nazarene Church in Galion.
Almira is survived by sons, James Dye and John (Leslie) Dye of Marion, Ohio; daughter, Diane (Donald) Sheffer of Burlington, Kentucky; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild and two sisters, Linda McLain of Surfside Beach, South Carolina and Sharon Freyman of Galion.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Darlene Brown; step-daughter, Jill Morton and three sisters, Leona Grogg, Esther Scott and Ruth Burdett.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2022 in the Real Life Nazarene Church, 777 Fairview Avenue Galion, Ohio 44833.
