Ruth E. Kuenzli, age 97, of rural Nevada, Ohio, passed away on 7:33 pm Sunday, January 10, 2021, at her home in Nevada.
Ruth was born on August 8, 1923, in Nevada, Ohio to Clarence and Lillie (Bolyard) Jacobs. She married Stanley “Dutch” Kuenzli on December 26, 1941, and he passed away on November 19, 1996.
She is survived by her daughter, Judy (Merle) Stewart of Nevada. Her grandchildren, Floyd Kuenzli, Dionna (John) Beach, Elaina (Cory) Mercurio, and Kathy Gardner, along with her great-grandchildren Andrew (Heather) Beach, Austin Beach, Cory Beach Jr., Angela Kuenzli, Christian (Lidia) Gardner, Christopher Gardner, Carter Gardner and Caleb Gardner-Miller. Also, surviving are her great-great-grandchildren, Lincoln and Matthew Beach, and Ziriah, Alison, and Khalia Gardner.
Ruth is also survived by a sister, Dorothy Ruebenhagen of Upper Sandusky.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son Paul Kuenzli, a sister Martha Jane Francis, and a special friend Orrin Lust.
Ruth was a 1941 graduate of Nevada High School and a longtime member of the Nevada United Methodist Church where she was active with the Women’s Society. For the last few years, she attended Trinity Evangelical United Methodist with her daughter.
She was a former member of the Nevada Lioness Club and she enjoyed gardening, canning and freezing, playing euchre, and watching Shirley Temple movies.
Funeral services for Ruth Kuenzli will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, January 14, 2021, at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky with Pastor Denny Delong and Chaplain Steve Sturgeon officiating. Burial will follow at Nevada Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 1 hour before service time, 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm, on Thursday at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.
