Treasurer Leesa Smith announced that Wynford will start the year with a leg up when it comes to the school finances.
In Smith’s report at the school board meeting on Monday she announced that with the wrap-up of the fiscal 2012-2013 school year Wynford will have a carryover of $250,000. Smith also reported that permanent appropriations will be adjusted for the addition of Sodexo Food Service, and that the permanent appropriations for the 2013-2014 school year will be finished by September.
In Superintendent Steve Mohr’s report, he informed the board that a few members of the staff had training on the school’s newly purchased Rosetta Stone foreign language software. Mohr called the program a benefit.
“All of our students will have the opportunity to any of the twenty-four languages in independent study,” Mohr said.
Mohr noted that the only course on the program that would be available as a school credit would be Spanish however.
Lunch prices were approved 3-0 Monday night with board President Brian Glowaski, and Steve Crall abstaining. Prices will be $1.50 for all breakfast meals. Junior high and high school lunch prices will be $2.75, while the elementary school prices will be $2.50.
The Wynford school board approved the hiring of Trista Baker as kindergarten teacher and music teacher Mark Heydinger was approved in the latest cost cutting measure of retire/rehire.
The next Wynford school board meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 1.
