BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Wynford Local School District announced it is seeking a dedicated individual to fill a full-time bus driver position for the 2025-2026 school year.
Transportation Director Brian Shupp stated that the district is looking for candidates who not only meet the rigorous state technical requirements but also demonstrate strong moral character and the ability to interact professionally with students and parents.
Under Ohio law, applicants must possess a commercial driver’s license (CDL) with both school bus and passenger endorsements. Candidates are required to have at least two years of driving experience and must pass an annual physical examination, as well as initial and random drug and alcohol screenings.
The role involves significant specialized training. New drivers must complete 15 hours of classroom instruction and a minimum of 12 hours of on-the-bus training. This curriculum covers essential safety maneuvers, including student loading procedures, railroad crossing safety, and emergency evacuations. Once certified, drivers must maintain their standing through annual in-service training and a recertification process every six years.
“A good bus driver must be able to cope with stressful situations and maintain control of the vehicle and the student environment,” the district noted in the job description.
Interested individuals should email their application to Brian Shupp at shupp.brian@wynfordroyals.org. Application forms are available online through the district’s website. For further information, the transportation office can be reached via Superintendent Forrest Trisler’s office at (419) 562-7828.
