OKLAHOMA CITY — Recently, the Wynford FFA Chapter went on a trip to the 2019 National Land, Range, and Homesite Judging Contest in Oklahoma.

It took their rural soils team, which consisted on Connor Miller, Jodie Jennings, Thomas Weithman, and Lexie Wood. At the contest, they placed 70th out of 102 teams.

While in Oklahoma, they spent two days practicing before the contest. During practice, they looked at six practice pits, a texture station, and a slope wheel. They learned new soil evaluation techniques from people from all over the states.

Aside from looking at interesting soil types, they also completed fun activities in between practicing. Such activities include Top Golf, an escape room, an embryo transfer tour at Express Ranch, Pops gas station, The National Cowboy Museum and a dance!

The contest was Thursday, and the team came back Friday, where they got to walk across the stage at the Ohio FFA State Convention. While waiting to walk, they got to talk with winners of other contests from other chapters. It was an interesting experience to get to meet so many new people in one week!
