The 2015 Wyandot County Fair ushered in new royalty Tuesday night with the King and Queen of the Junior Fair being crowned.

Royalty contestants took the stage in the Masters’ Building to answer their final question in front of judges. After the contestants answered their question drawn from a fishbowl, Renee` Sherman and Kohlton Shane were name the Queen and King of the Jr. Fair.

The competition wasn’t just held Tuesday as the contestants had to go through a one-on-one interview process prior to the final fishbowl question Tuesday evening.

Sherman explained that the fishbowl question was the most difficult portion of the competition.

“You have to get up in front of everyone and speak, and it is something different, and you don’t know what the question is and it is kind of a surprise too.”

Shane explained that he is looking forward to representing Wyandot County at other fairs.

“Being able to go visit other fairs and kind of seeing what they are doing,” Shane said. “Just to represent our fair in a good way, and get our names out there as being a fair so other people know that we are here.”

Before they can visit other fairs Shane and Sherman will be attending shows including the kids’ tractor pulls, church on Sunday, and the Cloverbuds graduation, and passing out ribbons and trophies at the Wyandot County Fair.

Sherman and Shane replace the 2014 Wyandot County Fair Royalty Christy Wickiser and Dillon Davidson.

Wickiser explained that while disappointed that she has to relinquish her crown, she feels that her replacement will do a great job.

“It’s a little different, but I know Renee will do a great job, and so I mean it is kind of disappointing, but I have already got to experience all the different fairs so it was kind of neat. So she will represent Wyandot County Fair very well,” Wickiser said.

Davidson explained what he will miss most about being King.

“Going around the state of Ohio, and representing Wyandot County, and getting our name to the other counties, and getting to see and meet other people from all over,” Davidson said.
