MARION—Scott Spears, Program Director of a low-powered radio station in Marion has announced plans to move forward and operate independently of the Federal Communications Commission. In a statement issued to Crawford County Now, Spears says: “Because of FCC rules regarding LPFM stations we have had to do advertising in a no call-to-action format, we have not been able to syndicate, and we have not been able to shake the bounds of one county.
We simply have outgrown that with the type of programming we do. We will still be broadcasting twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week absolutely free through the “Tune in” app. Just download it and search “WWGH”. We will still stream live on the website wwgh1071.com Archived shows/podcasts will continue to be put on the website. We will also be able to explore Facebook lives, and YouTube programs with full outright sponsorships.
Newspapers are read online now more than they are delivered, podcasts are a craze, apps outreach network or cable television….why wouldn’t a radio station want to continue with a national audience rather than one county?
Our records indicate we have more listeners on tune-in, YouTube, the website, and Facebook than over the air in the last few years. So, we hope everyone follows and more people join us. We are Marion’s “Town Hall”.
We are still based in Marion so we will still have local news weather and obits every hour, but our programming will expand.
WWGH has people who listen and call in from all over the state, Florida, West Virginia, Arizona, and Maine.
With national stories like the return of President Harding’s dog’s collar, the first interview will Bill Cosby after he was released from prison, and Ted Williams running for President solidifies that we are a station that has reach outside the bounds of Marion.” Spears said.
The schedule for WWGH will remain the same. New and exciting interviews are coming up in the next week that Includes an exclusive this Monday from 8-10 pm with Phil Donahue. Associated Press Award winning journalist Scott Spears talks with Donahue in which he gives a rare and first interview on the Jan 6th committee hearing and hot topics like the overturning of Roe V.
