NORTH ROBINSON – Kristine Pancoast made the decision to further her education and began her journey in the 22 Plus program through Pioneer Career and Technology Center.
“One of my sons graduated this past year and another is a senior this year. I have worked as an STNA (State-Tested Nursing Assistant) for many years and decided that I want to go to college for medical lab or physical therapy,” said Pancoast before the Colonel Crawford Board of Education meeting began Monday evening.
Pancoast participated in the program to earn her high school diploma, which was presented to her by Superintendent Todd Martin during the meeting. The board also approved Pancoast for graduation after she met all the requirements.
“People can earn their high school diploma through the school district in which they reside after completing our program through Pioneer,” said Greg Nickoli, superintendent of Pioneer.
Board president, Tim Ley, said that he admires the grit, determination, and hard work that Pancoast put into earning her diploma.
“She has the self-determination it takes to achieve this,” said Ley.
Pancoast will be meeting with administrators at the North Central State College Success Center in Bucyrus on Tuesday.
“I want to see what my options are so I can choose a college program,” said Pancoast.
In other business, the board approved several regular agenda items along with a resolution to provide for the transfer of funds remaining in the district’s classroom facilities fund after the completion of the high school wing of the school campus.
“The project was slated to cost a little over $20 million but ended up only costing around $18 million. We will receive the balance of $1.4 million that will be used for permanent improvements,” said Martin.
Freshman Nick Starner told the board about his recent trip with his agriculture education class and teacher to the Farm Science Review in London, Ohio, recently.
“It was a fun trip and we learned a lot. I hope I get to go again next year,” Starner said.
