The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office has reported that a Huron County woman was killed Thursday morning when her vehicle rolled over and caught fire on Ohio 98 near Brokensword Creek.

The Sheriff’s Office has not yet released the name of the victim, but did indicate she was 25 years old from North Fairfield.

A call regarding a vehicle on fire came into the Sheriff’s Office at just after 11 a.m. Thursday. According to the Sheriff’s Office, the vehicle, a 2002 Chevrolet Trail Blazer, was fully engulfed in flames when first responders arrived. The victim had to be extricated from the vehicle.

The report from the Sheriff’s Office indicates the woman’s vehicle was southbound and did not negotiate a curve. After over correcting several times, the vehicle went off the roadway, hit the ditch, rolled and caught fire.

Crawford County Coroner Dr. Michael Johnson was called to the scene. Also responding were firefighters from Liberty Township and New Washington and well as Life Support EMS.

An autopsy is being done by the Lucas County Coroner’s Office. Carl’s Auto Sales recovered the vehicle and the accident remains under investigation.
