MARION—On August 28, 2023, at 1:54 AM, officers from the Marion Police Department responded to a call reporting the discovery of a deceased female in an alley situated between Oak Street and Prospect Street. Upon arrival, law enforcement officials confirmed the incident and began their investigative efforts.

The victim, identified as a 34-year-old female, was found lifeless at the scene. Officers and detectives dedicated themselves to meticulously gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses in their pursuit of uncovering the circumstances surrounding the incident.

After two days of intensive investigation, a significant breakthrough was achieved. On August 30, 2023, investigators managed to establish probable cause in the case, leading to the arrest of Johnathen Andrew Frazee, a 29-year-old resident of Marion. Mr. Frazee was apprehended and subsequently transported to the Multi-County Correctional Center to face initial charges of Aggravated Vehicular Homicide. Authorities anticipate that further charges will be brought forward as the case proceeds through the criminal justice system.

Expressing his condolences, Marion Police Chief Jay McDonald lamented the senseless tragedy that befell the community. “It saddens me that this kind of senseless death occurred in our community, but I am proud of the work by all of the law enforcement officers involved in solving this tragic case,” Chief McDonald stated.
