BUCYRUS—Abbigail Kazee, 23, of Galion, was arraigned via video from the Crawford County Jail in the Crawford County Common Pleas Court on Monday. Kazee is charged with one count of burglary, a felony of the second degree punishable with up to 8 years in prison, one count of intimidation of a witness, a felony of the third degree punishable with up to 36 months in prison, and one count of domestic violence, a misdemeanor of the first degree punishable with up to six months in jail.

According to allegations by Prosecutor Matt Crall, Kazee was under a no-contact order regarding the victim from a pending Municipal Court domestic violence case. Kazee is the daughter of Diane Ross, the grandmother who was convicted of child endangerment after her four-year-old grandson gained access to a gun and fatally shot himself while in her care last May.

Kazee violated the no-contact order when she allegedly broke down the door of the victim’s home and assaulted her. The victim is the wife of the deceased child’s father.

Crawford County Common Pleas Court Judge Sean Leuthold entered a not guilty plea on Kazee’s behalf and appointed attorney Jerry Thompson to represent her. Judge Leuthold then heard arguments regarding bond from the state and attorney Neil Huggins who argued on Kazee’s behalf for bond purposes.

Prosecutor Crall asked that Kazee’s bond be continued at the $30,000.00 set in Municipal Court because the charges are all related to one underlying case, and she has no felony record.

Attorney Huggins asked the court for a personal recognizance bond in the case. He told the court Kazee would be willing to wear an ankle monitor but needed to get back to her child, family, and job.

Judge Leuthold expressed concern at the seriousness of the charges against Kazee. He told the court that in most circumstances, the bond would be around $100,000.00.

Judge Leuthold agreed with the prosecution that since the charges stemmed from one underlying case and that Kazee had no prior record, bond would be set at $30,000.00. He told Kazee if she makes bond, she must have no direct or indirect contact with the victim.
