GALION―A drug bust in Galion last week resulted in the arrest of one person and the confiscation of several types of drugs and cash.
On September 4, 2019, officers of the Galion Police Department, Crawford County Sheriff’s Office and the METRICH Drug Task Force, along with the Crawford County Special Response Team, executed two drug-related search warrants simultaneously at the Wyandot Square Apartments.
The warrants, which were the result of an investigation into drug trafficking spanning over several months, were served at apartments B-1 and B-4. The investigation included the assistance of School Resource Officer Ralph Burwell and detectives of the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office.
During the search, officers seized suspected methamphetamine, several different types of prescription drugs, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and cash.
Melissa Thomas, 40, of 425 Libby Lane, Apartment B-1 was arrested as a result of the investigation and has been charged with trafficking in drugs and tampering with evidence. The Crawford County Prosecutor’s office continues to review the investigation to determine if additional charges will be filed.
“Our agencies continue to work together for the betterment of our entire community. Our goal continues to be to work for our communities to make them safer and drug-free,” said Galion Police Chief Brian Saterfield.
