A new parking lot at the Wise Funeral Service was approved by the Bucyrus Zoning Board of Appeals Tuesday afternoon.
The parking lot will be located on the northeast corner of the intersection of South Poplar and West Warren streets. It will have a 19-to-20-car capacity. To accommodate an entrance to the parking lot on the south east side of the lot, a garage will need to be razed at Wise’s expense. An exit for the parking lot will be on the west side where a tree is currently located.
Former Bucyrus Mayor Glenn Achtermann wrote in support of the planned project that the parking lot would be an asset to the community.
No timetable for when the project will begin was given.
A proposal to partition up a portion of lot 508 and change ownership from Val J. Fawley to J.R. Jenney in order to accommodate an encroachment of an accessory structure was tabled until further information could be gathered. Bucyrus Planning and Zoning Administrator John Roshtash spoke before the Bucyrus Zoning Board of Appeals and noted that the lot had tried to be split up before in July of 2010, but the owners of the lot never gave approval of the split.
City Law Director Rob Ratliff recommended that the BZA table the item until all the owners have agreed to the petition, or have signed off with a power of attorney.
