CLEVELAND, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for portions of north central, northeast, and northwest Ohio, as well as northwest Pennsylvania, warning of powerful gusts that could disrupt travel and knock out power.
The advisory is in effect from 2 p.m. Sunday through 8 a.m. Monday.
Forecasters expect sustained south winds between 20 and 30 mph, with peak gusts reaching up to 55 mph. The weather service warns that these conditions will likely blow around unsecured outdoor objects and could snap tree limbs, potentially leading to scattered power outages across the region.
The wind event is tied to an approaching cold front. While the initial advisory concludes Monday morning, officials noted that winds will shift to the southwest and remain gusty behind the front. Portions of the advisory may be extended through the day Monday.
Authorities are urging motorists, particularly those operating high-profile vehicles, to exercise extra caution on the roads. Residents are also advised to secure patio furniture, trash cans, and other loose outdoor items before the strongest winds arrive this afternoon.
