BUCYRUS—In Crawford County Common Pleas Court under the jurisdiction of Judge Sean Leuthold, if you assist a rapist you’re going to be treated the same as the rapist. Karla Stander, 47, Bucyrus, learned that first hand on Thursday.
Stander is accused of knowing her husband was providing drugs to two female victims who were then allegedly raped after they passed out or became incapacitated. The sexual crimes spanned over a ten-year period. The crimes were discovered when detectives investigated her husband, Chad Stander, in a stolen gun case.
In an agreed plea negotiation, Stander pleaded guilty to two counts of rape, each first-degree felonies, punishable with up to 11 years in prison. Leuthold sentenced her to 10 years on each count for a total of 20 years in prison. She will also have to register as a tier III sex offender for life upon her release from prison.
Stander was ordered to have no direct or indirect contact with the victims. She will forfeit all evidence in the case, including several guns, computers, cell phones, an X-Box and computer discs, to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office. She will receive 50 days of time served at the Crawford County Justice Center.
