They say that every dog has his day, but Monday morning at the Crawford County Fair it went to the hogs as the fair held judging for Swine Showmanship.

Starting at 9 a.m., the Senior, Intermediate, and Junior Showmanship competitors led their hogs into the show arena hoping that the judges would be high on their hog.

In his first year competing at the fair, 9-year-old Brandon Vent took first place in the Junior Showmanship. Vent explained what it took to look like a champion with his hog.

“We fed them marshmallows every day, we walked them every day for about two miles,” Vent said.”We just walked them, walked them, and trained them”

“I am looking forward to participating at the fair every year that I am in 4-H,” Vent continued.

widmanAdam Widman took first place in the Senior Showmanship category has participated in the showmanship for eight years. Widman explained what he enjoyed most out of raising the top hog of his class.

“Just seeing them progress and they get better over time” Widman said.

Following showmanship the arena held the Swine Carcass Show, and the Swine Jackpot Show.
