MARION, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—In a significant boost for the local economies, Whirlpool Corporation has announced a $300 million expansion of its manufacturing operations in central Ohio, a plan projected to create up to 600 new jobs. While most of the new positions will be concentrated at Whirlpool’s Clyde facility, known as the largest washing machine plant in the world, approximately one-third of the new jobs will be added at the Marion dryer factory. This expansion is also anticipated to generate approximately 5,000 additional jobs in surrounding communities. Marc Bitzer, the chairman and CEO of Whirlpool Corporation, emphasized the company’s commitment to American manufacturing with this investment. “This $300 million investment in our Clyde and Marion facilities underscores our dedication to creating jobs, fostering innovation, and delivering high-quality, American-made appliances to U.S. consumers,” he stated in a news release on Wednesday. This latest investment is part of Whirlpool’s broader commitment to the U.S., totaling $23 billion in investments across operations, logistics, and workforce development over the past decade. The Marion Whirlpool manufacturing plant recently celebrated its 70th anniversary, marking a significant milestone in its local history.
