Let me begin by saying that almost everyone is a tiny bit nervous (and in many cases excited too!) on the day of their first visit. It’s completely normal to feel nervous – after all, it’s a brand-new experience. Knowing what to expect can make it much more approachable because it should be a very easy and enjoyable appointment!
In our office, your first visit starts with a brief tour of the office as our treatment coordinator brings you to the new patient exam room. She may ask a few questions to get to know you better and to learn more about what brings you in. Next, she’ll take photos of your teeth and smile, and she may take x-rays if they are needed. We use a fully digital x-ray machine, and the picture we take may be different from the ones you usually see at your dentist’s office. Taking this type of x-ray is very comfortable – even for little ones with small mouths!
Once your photos and x-rays are finished, I will meet with you to look at your teeth, smile, and bite. We’ll discuss your concerns and goals, and I will try to answer any questions you have. Some common questions that many people have at their first visit include:
– Do I need treatment?
– When should I have treatment?
– How long will it take?
– How much will treatment cost?
– What are my options?
We will do our best to answer these and any other questions that arise, and then we will continue to be available to answer questions and discuss treatment every step of the way. We absolutely love meeting new patients, and we look forward to meeting you and helping you reach your smile goals!!
