BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—Mayor Jeff Reser commended two city employees on Tuesday for their courageous actions during a frightening incident near city hall. The employees rescued a resident and her dog from an attack by two loose Pit Bulls. Mayor Reser explained that he initially mistook the dogs’ behavior for playfulness due to the shade but quickly realized they were attacking the resident and her dog.
Gary Morrow, a new employee of the Utility Department, immediately intervened upon hearing the commotion. Despite sustaining injuries herself, the resident’s dog was in a death grip by one of the Pit Bulls. Morrow bravely yelled, kicked, and did everything possible to force the pit bull to release its grip. The dogs then attempted to enter City Hall through the automatic doors, but Council Clerk Miranda Wise prevented them from gaining access. Mayor Reser expressed his gratitude to the two employees, acknowledging that the situation could have escalated rapidly. The council chamber erupted in applause. Mayor Reser informed the council that the resident had received stitches for her wounds at the hospital, while her dog sustained cuts but would recover.
