BUCYRUS — Incumbent Doug Weisenauer is running against newcomer Jeff Price to keep his position as a Crawford County Commissioner in the March 17 primary election on the Republican ballot.

A lifelong resident of Crawford County, Weisenauer resides in Lykens Township with his wife Joanne on the farm he grew up on. He worked a school bus driver for Wynford Local Schools for 12 years and is still in contact with many former students who rode his bus.

“Being a mentor to our next generation is an important connection to support our community,” said Weisenauer, who served as Lykens Township Trustee for four years.

He is currently serving in his third term as a county commissioner.

“Getting involved and knowing the concerns of our community has helped me with the sometimes-difficult decisions that have to be made from my office,” Weisenauer said. “I am proud to have been one of the founding members of Crawford County Economic Development and through the years, have seen the growth and positive outcome this has impacted our county.”

He said there will always be more goals to reach, and as everyone works together, is confident great things can be accomplished.

“I have been a small business owner for 30 years. I am active in volunteer and mission work in our church, along with many local civic club projects,” Weisenauer said. “Being involved and giving back to the community is very important to me. My goal has always been to leave Crawford County a better place than it was. Our next generation should have more opportunities and better infrastructure to raise their families.”

Early voting is already underway at the Crawford County Board of Elections in the lower level of the Crawford County Courthouse, 112 E. Mansfield St., in Bucyrus.
