MARION—Former Marion County Judge Jason Warner, 53, and his wife Julia, 56, are set to be released from their respective prisons in the near future. The couple was convicted in 2020 for multiple charges including leaving the scene of an accident, tampering with evidence, and complicity after they collided with another vehicle on June 4, 2020. Regrettably, they left the severely injured victim, Colton Gray, trapped in his vehicle.

Julia Warner is expected to be released from prison on September 24th, while Jason is scheduled for release on October 1st. In March of 2021, Jason Warner’s law license was suspended based on the Ohio Board of Professional Conduct’s recommendation. The Supreme Court has not yet issued a ruling on the matter.

One of the staunchest opponents of Warner’s efforts to regain his law license is Marion County Common Pleas Court Judge Warren T. Edwards. He provided testimony during the hearing held last October before the Ohio Board of Professional Conduct, expressing the profound impact this case has had on the local court system. Judge Edwards highlighted that public faith in the court system has reached an all-time low, with many perceiving special treatment throughout the process. He emphasized that a decision in Warner’s favor would be viewed as granting special treatment and would significantly undermine the administration of justice in the community. Ultimately the Board agreed.

No details have been released regarding where the Warner’s plan to reside.
