Numerous Walnut Street Bucyrus residents met with city officials at City Hall Tuesday evening to discuss the Walnut Street water line replacement project.

Those officials along with contractor Robert Bores of R.A. Bores Excavating, and engineer Lyn Makeever of Makeever and Associates answered questions as well as gave a time table for the waterline replacement project.

Mayor Roger Moore told those in attendance, “Point blank it is going to be muddy, it is going to be messy, and you will have to deal with it. Don’t call to complain because there is no way I can help.”

While answering questions Bores explained to the crowd that the Walnut Street will be closed from 6:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, and that the construction group will set steel plates down after finishing for the day prior to opening the road for the evening.

Explaining to the crowd what to do if they need access to their drive Bores said, “If those on the street need access to their drive to come to either me, or my brother Mark,”

City Service-Safety Director Jeff Wagner explained to the crowd that this is an ongoing project.

“Most of these are planned a year or two in advance,” Wagner said. “In July 2014 we are planning on replacing the waterline on North Sandusky, and Plymouth Street from the city limits to North Sandusky is planned for June of 2015.”

Construction on Walnut Street is set to start at Kilborne Avenue on Nov. 25 with project completion scheduled for April 11. People with further questions can call the mayor’s office at 419-562- 6767.
