BUCYRUS — Time is ticking for those who want to vote in the primary election on March 17 but are not yet registered.

According to Crawford County Board of Elections Director Ruth Leuthold, the office will offer extended hours in the coming weeks for residents who need to register to vote or change their address or name on their current voter registration.

“The deadline to register to vote in the primary election in March is Feb. 18,” Leuthold said. “People can come into our office to register, go to one of the other locations listed or register online.”

Leuthold said each person registering or changing their address or name must have a valid driver’s license or state identification card.

The office, located in the lower level of the Crawford County Courthouse, 112 E. Mansfield St., will be open Feb. 10-14 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on Feb. 18 from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Other places to register include the Crawford County Board of Elections website or one of the following locations during their regular business hours: Bucyrus, Galion, Crestline and New Washington public libraries; Bucyrus, Crestline and Galion city halls; Buckeye Central, Galion, Crestline, Colonel Crawford and Wynford high schools; any bureau of motor vehicles; the department of mental health and the Crawford County Treasurer’s Office.

According to a press release from the Crawford County Board of Elections, the criteria for registering is:

QUALIFICATIONS FOR REGISTERING – (R.C. 3503.01)

“Every citizen of the United States who is of the age of eighteen years or over and who has been a resident of the state thirty days, AND IS A RESIDENT OF THE COUNTY AND PRECINCT in which he offers to vote, has the qualifications of an elector.”

YOU MUST BE A REGISTERED ELECTOR TO VOTE IN CRAWFORD COUNTY

The penalty for election falsification is imprisonment for not more than six months, or a fine of not more than One Thousand Dollars ($1000.00) or both.

The Crawford County Board of Elections suggests that this notice of times and dates and places for REGISTRATION be preserved for future reference, as it will not be published again prior to the closing date for Registration or Change of Residence, February 18, 2020 R.C. 3503.12.
