CRESTLINE — Crestline Village Council met in a short, special meeting Monday evening to approve three pieces of legislation they were unable to vote on at the last meeting due to not having a quorum.
Council unanimously voted to approve Mayor Joy Miley’s appointments of Richard S. Liptak from a part-time police officer to full-time with the Crestline Police Department and Scott Taylor from firefighter to captain with the fire department.
Liptak has been a police officer for 22 years and also works as a paramedic for Portsmouth Emergency Ambulance Service in Bucyrus.
“I like to help people in the community,” Liptak said.
Taylor has been a full-time firefighter for the village since 2014.
“I have a passion for this job,” Taylor said. “The former fire chief was my neighbor, Mike Weisman, and he encouraged me to join the department. Once I did, I fell in love with the job.”
A resolution to appoint fiscal officer Sherry Winch as the village delegate to the RITA Council of Governments and Village Administrator John Rostash as the alternate to the RITA council also was approved.
