Village hires new officer

NEW WASHINGTON — The New Washington police department has added a new part-time police officer.

Officer Zackery Bennett was sworn in at the New Washington Village Council meeting Monday after having trained with the department for the past few months.

It also was said during the short meeting, the New Washington Police Department has been adjusting to other changes as well, as the former police chief, Jeff Shook, resigned and took the position of police chief at the Crestline Police Department.
