BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 1078 is set to host its annual “Remembering Our Heroes” fundraiser during this year’s Bratwurst Festival, taking place from August 14 to 16. This event serves as a key opportunity for the post to raise funds to support local veterans in need, with all proceeds redirected to benefit the community.
Throughout the year, VFW Post 1078 (1078 E. Mansfield St) provides various forms of assistance to veterans, including wheelchair ramp construction, food and utility support, home modifications for accessibility, car repairs, tire replacements, rent assistance, gas vouchers, and transportation to medical appointments. Over the past year, the post has contributed nearly $150,000 back to veterans in Crawford County.
The ability to continue these vital services relies heavily on local sponsorship, which includes support from North Central Ohio Media Group, Drs. Becky and Todd Strickland, AVITA in Galion, and The Miller Brothers.
The post also welcomes donations of food and drink for the event.
Volunteers are needed to help with food service and the beer garden during the festival, with shifts lasting two hours. Volunteers can keep their tips, making it a rewarding way to support the cause while enjoying the festival.
Live music is always a highlight of the post , featuring performances from bands each night.
The lineup includes Sinister Midget on Thursday, Rock House Columbus on Friday, and Whiskey Would on Saturday, with shows running from 8:00 PM until midnight.
Attendees are also encouraged to participate in a raffle for a chance to win a liquor basket. ”The cost is $5 per ticket.
The basket includes a variety of premium spirits such as Crown Royal, Willett Bourbon, Buffalo Trace, and more, with the winner announced on Saturday night.
For donations, volunteer opportunities, or to purchase raffle tickets, interested parties can contact Lori Starner at 419-689-1003.
Join VFW Post 1078 in celebrating and supporting our community’s heroes at this year’s Bratwurst Festival.
