With the growing season at an end, the United States Department of Agriculture will conduct three surveys for the purpose of determining crops yields and acreage for 2014, in addition to hog inventories.

Those three surveys are the Row Crops County Agricultural Production Survey known as CAPS; the December Agricultural Survey; and the December Hog Report. Estimates of acreage, yield, production estimates, winter wheat and rye seedings, grain stocks, and hog inventories and farrowings will be determined by these surveys.

The USDA will contact approximately 11,000 Ohio farmers by mail, phone or a personal visit.

The Hogs and Pigs Report will be released Dec. 23. The Crop Production, Grain stocks, and Winter Seedings Report will be released. Jan 12. County level estimates for corn and soybeans will be available Feb. 19.
