BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Crawford Park District has an exciting lineup of events this October, offering something for everyone in the community.

Haunted Headwaters Event Promises Spooky Adventure at Sandusky Headwaters Preserve

Thrill-seekers are invited to the Haunted Headwaters event on Saturday, October 5, from 8 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. at Sandusky Headwaters Preserve, located at 2400 State Route 598. Participants will embark on a spine-chilling trek through the haunted woods and along the eerie Sandusky River, shrouded in mist. The event costs $5 per person, with proceeds benefiting the Junior Naturalist Club and the new archery range. This hike is not recommended for young children. Sandusky Headwaters Preserve is situated 3 miles north of US Route 30.

Feeding Day at Lowe-Volk Park

On Monday, October 7, at 5 p.m., join Crawford Park District Naturalist Lisa at Lowe-Volk Park, 2401 State Route 598, for Feeding Day. Attendees can help prepare food for the Nature Center’s resident animals, including box turtles, snapping turtles, and snakes. Lowe-Volk Park is located 3 miles north of US Route 30.

Little Explorers: Nature Scents Program

The Crawford Park District’s Little Explorers program, designed for children ages 0-5, will focus on nature scents on Wednesday, October 9, at 5 p.m. at Lowe-Volk Park. Children will engage in sensory activities and explore the various scents of Ohio’s natural environment.

Canoeing at Neff Reservoir

Enjoy an evening paddle at Neff Reservoir on Thursday, October 10, at 5 p.m. After a brief lesson on canoeing basics and safety, participants will take to the water. All equipment is provided, and no registration is required, but participation is on a first-come, first-served basis. Neff Reservoir is located on State Route 98, east of Bucyrus.
